Team Building Trips

Why Teambuilding
You have a great company and fantastic staff, but it is a tough climate out there at the moment and many employees are looking for new challenges to keep them interested and motivated.

The world is changing and a study by Scott Jeffrey "Right Answer, Wrong Questions", found that non-cash rewards can be two to three times more effective in motivating employees and part of the reason for this is that experiences are far more memorable.

So what should you be doing to retain your top talent and get everyone working as a cohesive team? How can you make sure everyone stays motivated, interested and productive?

If one of your ideas is teambuilding or corporate retreats Hands Up Holidays has the solution for you!

Types of Teambuilding
Traditional teambuilding involves some fun but abstract classroom exercises and some games to engage and inspire those involved. Perhaps there is even a scary ‘walking along a high wire' trust element that can be fantastic to get everyone fired up, thinking and forging deeper connections with colleagues, but how long does that impact last?

Hands Up Holidays offers something completely different. We get your team involved in community volunteering projects that creates positive social and environmental change.

We offer real activities, that make a real difference to peoples lives and provide your employees with real satisfaction. Once they leave the destination they can look back on their time with a sense of fulfillment.

Of course if you also want to add a spot of tandem skydiving and a paper dragon folding competition, we can also arrange for that.

How does it work?
Well there are many different ways of doing it and it all comes down to what you as a company or team want to achieve.

  • Perhaps you have a great sales team that has earned a break, but you also want them to learn and grow.
  • Perhaps you have a few marketing people that are uninspired that could perhaps benefit from a new perspective.
  • Perhaps the management team has skirted the economic turmoil, but is now lackluster and fatigued.

For each of these cases and many others we strive to create a unique solution

  • You could just send the sales people on a nice jolly cruise ship with some fun activities and some relaxation. They would enjoy it, but would it leave an indelible mark on them? Will they have stories to tell, that they are proud of? Will they have a new found respect for their colleagues? Perhaps, but most likely not.

What if they gave up a couple of days of that trip to go into a deprived local community in India or Cambodia? Here they work along side local builders and community members to complete a school or a new dormitory for an orphanage. The work isn't arduous, but the memories and satisfaction it brings will last forever.
  • The marketing team could sit around a white board reinventing the same ideas and strategies, or they could try something different.

They could visit a fledgling volunteer project that would benefit from their marketing expertise to help it grow and develop. For example assisting a women's cooperative in Peru to refine their products, brand proposition, marketing and export strategy, in order to help raise their incomes and use their natural talents to escape poverty. Not only will your employees come back with new ideas and motivation, but they will want to continue to offer the women regular ongoing support.
  • The exhausted execs could just go play a spot of golf and relax in a spa in Portugal, but that would probably not look so good on an expenses sheet and is unlikely to recharge their mental batteries.

However, what if they ended up in Delhi working on a fascinating educational project that encourages the community to put time and effort back into growing education facilities, so that the children can be educated and surpass their parents. Perhaps they might just learn something interesting from this unusual set up and they could impart some of their business acumen to help speed up the growth of the project.

Then at the end of the day they could still squeeze in that round of golf and that spa treatment without fear of repercussions from the shareholders.

So, if you have a team that could do with some bonding, encouragement, reenergizing or just some inspiration, please contact us. We will provide you with a customized solution that will serve to inspire your team for the future.
