Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project
You can help in the area the Mapuches call Pewü, that is to say, the time of the buds, when life is reborn. Your tasks are varied, depending on the needs of the community at the time, but can include building work, repair and renovations, environmental conservation, and teaching. Over 70.000 people live in the West Patagonia rural areas. Most of them have incredibly low incomes. You can help make it a reality for these low income people to have access to education, skills and a decent standard of living.
Trip Summary
Starting in Iguaçu Falls, you will have an exciting 4WD jungle excursion, observing the Brazilian and the Argentinean sides of the incredible Falls, . You will fly to Neuquen, and spend 4 enriching days in your Taste of Volunteering.
After this fulfilling and meaningful interaction with the Argentinean people, we bid sad farewells and drive to Bariloche and transfer to our cosy inn, surrounded by nature, on the shore of Lake Gutierrez. In the morning we take a chairlift ride up Mt Campanario for an outstanding view over northern Patagonia. From there we travel along the shore of Lakes Gutierrez and Mascardi to the Pampa Linda Valley and Lodge, nestled at the foot of Mt Tronador.
We take a bike ride that afternoon, with horse riding as an alternative. The next day we have a full day hike through forests and ice fields with incredible views over cascades and glaciers.
We transfer to El Calafete - from there it is a stunning drive west through towering peaks to take us to the mammoth Merino glacier, within Glacier National Park. We sail to the front of the awesome Merino Glacier, walk through the Magellan Forest and reach the foot of the glacier itself, where we put on crampons and go ice climbing!
We transfer into Chile’s sublime Torres del Paine, with its panorama of rivers, lakes and glacier; we hike through breathtaking terrain containing icebergs in the water. The next morning we fly to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world and the closest point to Antarctica. Ushuaia is our base to hike, with views of Tierra del Fuego, and go an incredible 4WD off-road adventures.
We explore the wonderful Beagle Channel by boat, taking in the array of marine life among its islands and inlets. Your adventure ends back in Buenos Aires, with a full day at your leisure to shop and explore a little further, before flying out the following day.
