Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project
You can help in a hands-on way by building a house for an impoverished family (This costs around $4,000 so this will be divided by the number of people building and added to the trip price).
Trip Summary
After cheking-in to your luxury hotel, we take a tour of the Royal Palace, National Museum of Khmer Arts, and renowned Wat Phnom Hill. Then visit the notorious killing fields and Toul Sleng genocide museum (these sights can be disturbing and may not be suitable for children).
On Day 3 we fly to Siem Reap, and check-in to your chosen luxury hotel (Siem Reap has a good selection of fabulous hotels, with at least one sure to suit your tastes), and you have the rest of the day to relax or explore.
The following morning we visit the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex. Visit the Rolous Group of temples including Preah Ko, Bakong, Lo Lei. Then your tour takes you on the Small Circuit including Prasat Kravan (Cardamon sanctuary), Banteay Kdei, Srah Srang (Royal Bath), Ta Prohm (Jungle Temple), Takeo, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda.
Marvel at a magical sunrise over Angkor Wat, followed by a morning tour of the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon visit the New Seventh Wonder of the World: Angkor Wat, and view sunset at Phnom Bakheng Hill, with views over the lake and Angkor Wat in the distance.
After two incredible days touring the temples your volunteer project begins. You get to help build a house for an impoverished family who could otherwise never afford to have a proper home. The highlight of your trip will no doubt be the wonderful memories you will collect from interacting with the Cambodian people during this experience - it will not be easy to leave them!
A sobering visit to the landmine museum, is followed by the Siem Reap market. Explore the night market in town as it has excellent arts and crafts.
The following day we take a trip out to Ton Le Sap Lake where you can marvel at a floating village and learn about environental conservation efforts. On your final day you have the morning at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your onward flight...you may like to explore the region further, or rest at Cambodia's beaches - we can make it happen!
