Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project
Teaching at an orphanage near Angkor Wat. At additional cost, you can help build a house for an impoverished family.
Trip Summary
We begin in Phnom Penh. You will be met at the airport by your English-speaking local guide, and after checking in at your luxury boutique hotel, you have a tour of the Royal Palace, National Museum of Khmer Arts, the renowned Wat Phnom Hill.
On Day 2, you visit the the notorious killing fields and Toul Sleng genocide museum (these sights can be disturbing). In the afternoon we have a relaxing tour of Phnom Penh Municipality Hall, National Library, National Bank, Independence Monument and we finish with the opportunity for some shopping at the New Central Market.
After breakfast on Day 3 we fly to Siem Reap. Upon arrival you meet with your new English-speaking guide and transfer to your luxury boutique hotel a short ride from the town centre.
On Day 4 your tour to the Angkor Wat temple complex begins. You have a morning tour to the Rolous Group of temples including Preah Ko, Bakong, Lo Lei. In the afternoon tour you go to the Small Circuit including Prasat Kravan (Cardamon sanctuary), Banteay Kdei, Srah Srang (Royal Bath), Ta Prohm (Jungle Temple), Takeo, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda.
The following day we continue our temple tour, starting with a sunrise visit to Angkor Wat. We return to the hotel for breakfast, and then have a morning tour to the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon we visit the New Seventh Wonder of the World: Angkor Wat, and view sunset at Phnom Bakheng Hill, with views over the lake and Angkor Wat in the distance.
Your volunteer project begins after two incredible days touring the temples - you can help teach at an orphanage in the Angkor Wat temple complex. If you prefer, you can help build a house for an impoverished family, but there are extra costs involved with this project.
Your accommodation continues in the luxury boutique hotel, and you will have daily transfers to and from your volunteer project.
Your meaningul interaction during your taste of volunteering with the Cambodian people is likely to be the highlight of your trip - it will not be easy to leave them!
On Day 10, we visit the landmine museum, the Artisans d'Angkor craftspeople and workshop, followed bey a visit to the Siem Reap market.
You may wish to visit the night market in town, which has excellent arts and crafts. You can take a tuk-tuk for a short ride back to your hotel.
On your final day you have the morning at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
