Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project
You can help raise education levels (and employment chances) by teaching at an orphanage near Angkor Wat. Or, you can help in a hands-on way by building a house for an impoverished family (additional costs are involved for this).
Trip Summary
Take a tour of the Royal Palace, National Museum of Khmer Arts, and renowned Wat Phnom Hill. Then visit the notorious killing fields and Toul Sleng genocide museum (these sights can be disturbing).
Explore the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex. Visit the Rolous Group of temples including Preah Ko, Bakong, Lo Lei. Then your tour takes you on the Small Circuit including Prasat Kravan (Cardamon sanctuary), Banteay Kdei, Srah Srang (Royal Bath), Ta Prohm (Jungle Temple), Takeo, Thommanon, Chau Say Tevoda.
Marvel at a magical sunrise over Angkor Wat, followed by a morning tour of the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon visit the New Seventh Wonder of the World: Angkor Wat, and view sunset at Phnom Bakheng Hill, with views over the lake and Angkor Wat in the distance.
After two incredible days touring the temples your volunteer project begins. Help teach at an orphanage in the Angkor Wat temple complex. If you prefer, you can help build a house for an impoverished family, but there are extra costs involved with this project. The highlight of your trip will no doubt be the wonderful memories you will collect from interacting with the Cambodian people during your volunteering project - it will not be easy to leave them!
A sobering visit to the landmine museum, is followed by the Siem Reap market. Explore the night market in town as it has excellent arts and crafts. On your final day you have the morning at leisure until the transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
