Your ''Taste of Volunteering'' Project

A choice of fulfilling volunteer projects in and around Cape Town

• Help at an AIDS orphanage. Repair and renovation work, as well as completion with daily tasks (cleaning, cooking, washing) in order to free up the permanent care-givers to focus on caring for the children
• Assist in a community kitchen in a township.  Meal preparation, serving of meals, and delivery of supplies to kitchens throughout Cape Town's townships
• One-on-one reading guidance in a school. Assist students who are falling behind in their studies and will benefit from personal tuition
• Join an environmental conservation project. Dig trenches, plant seeds and seedlings, construct wind breaks, plant fruit trees, build simple nurseries, make jams and chutneys using fresh garden produce

Trip Summary

Stunning Table Mountain and beautiful Table Bay form the backdrop to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. South Africa’s second largest city is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, but the cable car to the top of its peak allows for leisurely viewing of the magical surrounding views.

Inland, the picturesque landscape of Stellenbosch is home to some of the finest new world wines. These manicured vineyards stand in great contrast to the entrepreneurial but impoverished townships that line large stretches of the road.

Volunteering in a township kitchen is but one of many exciting and fulfilling projects available, as part of your Hands Up Holiday.  Meet amazing people, help provide an essential service and feel the rewards of affecting real change.
