Trip Summary
Vanuatu is a stunning subtropical archipelago made up of 82 islands of which only 50 are inhabited. Lush tropical forests, secluded rock pools, active volcanoes, majestic beaches and colorful corals make this a true island paradise. Swim deep in the jungle, snorkel on reefs, hike to the rim of a volcano and cruise on outrigger canoes.
The beautiful scenery is complemented by the warm and hospitable people. It is your interaction with the local Melanesiain people that will set this experience apart. The fascinating patchwork of cultures and traditions, have been infused by years of joint Anglo-French rule.
On the island of Tanna participate in your volunteer project. Assist the wonderful people of a remote village, with building repairs and renovations. If you are medically trained there are also interesting medical projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to really get to understand the vibrant culture of the people in the far-flung reaches of these vibrant islands.
Your meals reflect the myriad of cultures present on the archipelago. Enjoy traditional Melanesian cuisine, beach picnics, French café’s and many other local establishments.
