Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project

Assist the young unfortunate victims of Agent Orange (a horrific chemical defoliant used in the Vietnam War), at the Vietnam Friendship Village. This is a project founded and funded by the governments of Vietnam, USA, UK, France and Germany. The Village is home for 160 children and elderly or disabled adults, who are victims of Agent Orange. Give the young children a head start by teaching them English or help maintain the village gardens.

Trip Summary

A cycling trip is the perfect way to get into the natural pace of this beautiful country and meet its inhabitants. Rather than watching the landscape through a window, enjoy the journey as well as the destination. Laugh and chat with these welcoming people as you weave your way through gorgeous countryside.

Start from Hanoi and make your way to the magnificent Perfume Pagoda nestled in the limestone hills. The iconic rice fields and limestone mountains of Ninh Binh are followed by the magnificent cathedral in Phat Diem. Visit Nam Dinh and Phu Ly before returning to Hanoi.

Rest your weary legs as you tour across Hai Hung Province to magical Halong Bay. Legend has it that the monolithic limestone islands were formed when the gods sent dragons to protect the people from invading Chinese forces. This is a great place to swim, relax and explore caves.

Your volunteer project is the final highlight. Spend four fulfilling days assisting with repairs and renovations, gardening and teaching English at the Vietnam Friendship Village. Help these unfortunate young people gain a language skill that will build their confidence open doors for them in the future. Feel rewarded by the thankful smiles of these extraordinary individuals.
