Your "Taste of Volunteering" Project

Your volunteer project is with the Vietnam Friendship Village - you will assist young victims of Agent Orange (the chemical defoliant used in the Vietnam War) by teaching English and gardening in its organic garden. Vietnam Friendship Village is a project founded and funded by the governments of Vietnam, USA, UK, France and Germany. The Village is home for 160 children and elderly or disabled adults, who are victims of Agent Orange.

Trip Summary

You tour bustling Saigon, the Cu Chi Tunnels and the bizarre Cao Dai temple – an amalgam of several religions, with patron saints such as William Shakespeare!

After exploring charming Hoi An, you fly to Hanoi and tour this delightful city, including a “cyclo” ride through the old town, and capping off the day viewing Hanoi’s celebrated water puppets. Your Community Development volunteer project is with the Vietnam Friendship Village - you will assist young victims of Agent Orange (the chemical exfoliant used in the Vietnam War) by teaching English and gardening in its organic garden. Your adventure ends in Hanoi, where we say our farewells.

We tour bustling Saigon, including the War Museum, beautiful temples, and finish up with a body thumping massage at the Blind Institute! The following day we visit the Cu Chi Tunnels – a complex maze of tunnels used by the Viet Cong to get near Saigon – and the bizarre Cao Dai temple – an amalgam of several religions, with patron saints such as William Shakespeare!

The friendly locals along the Mekong Delta will make you feel like you are the first foreigners they have ever seen! In Hoi An you will feel like you have stepped back 100 years. We take a bicycle tour of the former imperial capital Hue, exploring sights such as the Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City and Dong Ba market.

We fly to Hanoi and explore this delightful city, including Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum and house, the renowned Museum of Ethnology, a “cyclo” ride through the old town, and capping off the day viewing Hanoi’s celebrated water puppets.

We have a night in a luxury junk in Halong Bay, where you can kayak, swim or snorkel amidst the unsurpassed beauty of these thousands of tiny islands. En route to Halong Bay we have a short stop at the Sao Dao centre run for, and by, handicapped children.

Your adventure ends in Hanoi, however flights can be arranged back to Saigon (extra cost).
