Sossusvlei Desert Lodge
An elegant oasis the Namib Desert, surrounded by dramatic dunes and stony outcrops. The villas are made of stone and glass and are sophisticated and comfortable, with touches such as skylights for stargazing. You can eat dinner on your private veranda, looking at the distant peaks, or spend a day quad biking in this amazing terrain. The outdoor showers with uninterrupted desert views give a powerful feeling of remoteness.
The lodge is in the NamibRand Nature Reserve which is the first Dark Sky Reserve in Southern Africa, and the resident astronomer will take you on a tour of Saturn’s rings and the surface of the moon in the lodge’s very own observatory.
The lodge’s core values are ‘Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife, Care of the People’. They believe that the wild spaces of Africa are a precious resource and that the only way to sustain them is through realizing their true value. By placing an economic value on conservation and wilderness land, and ensuring that the local communities benefit from our activities, they guarantee that these wild areas have a future.
Sesriem and Sossusvlei
The awe-inspiring dunes at Sossusvlei are one of Namibia’s most impressive tourist attractions, and said to be the tallest sand dunes in the world. Sesriem is the perfect base for exploring this natural wonder and both are part of the immense Namib Naukluft National Park, the largest conservation site in Africa.
